Really?! It's been a year?

Just a quick post,  more to come later.   Boy has a lot changed in the last year like I'm now the school media specialist (librarian) at Amelia Earhart.  Shad is no longer there with me as he is in Jr High.  I miss him.  We have been super busy with work and church callings but Brett and I are leaving for a 7 day cruise to the Mexican Rivera for some well deserved R&R.  That will give me something to write about after I get caught up on everything else we did over the past year like Shad's football, Timerline, basketball.  Shandi's amazing talents and humor,  Brett's job and church callings,  Janett's job and church callings.  Too tired to go into all that now.  The only reason I've done this much is because Shandi won't let me go to bed until I update.  Updated...now Good-night.

Obsession is a "STRONG" word

To say I'm obsessed with Zumba would be an understatement! I have become so "in love" with Zumba that if it were a man, I'd marry it! (that's what we used to say as teenagers) Here's the back story of how I came to find Zumba...
About a month ago I decided to submit an application to ICH's 100 Days to a Healthy Heart competition. After I submitted my application I started to get really excited because I knew I needed to do something to get healthy and they were offering sessions with a fitness trainer, nutrition classes and access to IHC's wellness center. But it got me thinking and I wondered what I would do if I wasn't chosen. Knowing my own health was looking bad and the heart health history of my mom, aunts and grandparents, I decided that I did not want to wait around to see if they choose me for this competition. When I saw the doctor in October my Cholesterol was 220 and my Triglycerides were 186. Which is actually good because the year before my Chol/286 and Trig/388..I KNOW!!!! Heart attack waiting to happen! I knew that if I didn't do something now I would be looking at heart problems and diabetes within a few years. So Brett and I started walking at the Orem Rec Center. We walked for about a week before he injured his knee and had to take a break for knee surgery. At that point Shandi had asked me if they offered a Zumba class there. I have to say that at first I was very intimidated about the idea of doing a dance/aerobic class. Needless to say, I was hooked the first day! Shandi and I go at least 4 days a week and I walk a few miles before or after each class. I've also go for 4 mile walks on the days I don't do Zumba. I have dropped 12 pounds in 4 weeks and feel fantastic. I feel STRONG, healthy and have tons of energy. I am now obsessed with exercising and will be doing a 5k in March, (probably walking most of it, but hey, at least I can say I did it) and walking a half marathon at Thanksgiving Point in April. I'm up for the challenge, plus I get really cool t-shirts for participating!
This is not a picture from my Zumba class but we have this much fun!

Really.....It's February?

OK, here it is! I'm going to be more diligent in my blogging as to create a family history for my kiddo's. I guess I'm starting to feel the same about blogging as I do about scrap booking. I get so far behind that it's overwhelming to even think about writing everything down. I read everyone else's blogs and they are so cute and creative and mine is just blah! I'm going to dress it up and make it pretty like Megan's. Megan, when can you show me how to do that? LOL Anyway this is what we have been up to...
Thanksgiving at moms in St George. The weather was perfect.

B & J 15 Years and still deeply in love

See...still in love!

The joy of having an adult daughter....she was such a pain as a teenager
but oh how wonderful she is now.

Chewbaccah smiling for the camera

Kim and Jared blessed little Anna. We are so happy for them she is adorable.
Her big brother Jared J is so proud too.

Our Christmas village grew a little more this year. This is only half of it.

Shandi sat on Santa lap, again! I think the only reason she would want to be married right now is so she wouldn't have to repeat that next year.

Shad sat on Santas lap this year too. He asked for an airsoft gun and was quite disappointed when he opened his gift and it was Star Wars guys. I mean really upset. What, is he like 5? I couldn't believe he was expecting to get the airsoft gun. What a goof!

Like I said...What a goof!

Our boy turned 12!!!!! Is now a Priesthood holder and loves going to Young Mens.

Where they get to do fun things like go ice fishing and a few weeks ago they went on the Klondike camp out. He has wonderful leaders!

Shad is also playing Jr Jazz basketball again this year. He has a really cool coach and they practice on the same court and the Utah Flash. How cool is that?!

Brett's grandma Roberts turned 95 years old. She is still full of spunk and loves to read and be with family. She has a wonderful sense of humor and claims she is only 59 years old because after a certain age you get to start switching the numbers.
We love her so much. She is very special to all of us.

Four generations of Roberts. Brett (41), Shad (12) Devon (95) Mic (B's dad-Old as dirt) lol

B had his knee scoped which was a good thing because if he hadn't he would have ended up with a total knee replacement within a few years. Doc said his knee is wearing on the inside but not on the outside so he will need to get a special knee brace that will re-align his knee.
Basically, he was born with bad knees and somewhere down the line
he will need knee replacement regardless.

Well then...that's the update. Now my goal is to write about something every week. I'm going to make this a truly exciting adventure of a blog. I mean, how can a call it "A Day in the Life" when I only update it every 6 months. Right? Right!

Elf

Can I just say this is my all time favorite Christmas movie. There aren't many movies out there that make you laugh and cry at the same time. I love the ending when Santa's sleigh flies over their heads and everyone is singing "you better watch out, you better not cry, you better not pout, I'm tellin' you why....Santa Clause is coming to town" I just can feel the spirit of Christmas. I seriously cry every time. Does that make me a loser?

No Bully Here...

Apparently they are having a problem with bullying in 5th grade. Shad, being a 6th grader, is not involved in this, in fact, he was used as an example to them. It was said that he never plays with the same group of kids at recess, that he always has a lot of friends around him because he is just plain fun to be around. They were told that if they wanted to be like someone they should try to be like Shad. He doesn't talk bad about others and is always friendly. The kids were asked who knew Shad in 6th grade, everyone did, then who thinks Shad is cool, everyone did. Wow, this was all about my boy, can you believe it, my Shad. Oh, how my heart swelled when I was told this. I mean, I know what a good boy he is and what a kind heart he has but to hear it coming from a teacher at school, a teacher that has never ever taught him, it made me feel so good. I love this boy so much and feel like I'm the luckiest mom in the world.

Someone is a 6th grader

Is that not the cutest 6th grader you ever saw?
Mr. Jeppesen's class. Shad's going to have a wonderful year!

I can't believe it will be his last year in elementary school. Sad!
Here's little old me. I had to take a picture for a new work badge so I thought what the heck...it's my first day of school too.

And here's the bulletin board I made for the hallway outside my classroom. I think it turned out cute. Brett suggested I add a few seagulls and crabs so I'll be doing that soon.
